• 6.5 Grendel: Developed by Bill Alexander of Alexander Arms, the 6.5 Grendel is designed for superior long-range performance and terminal ballistics, particularly in the AR-15 platform. It uses a compound throat design optimized for various bullet weights and profiles, allowing for a flatter trajectory and greater energy retention at longer ranges.
• .264 LBC: The .264 LBC was created as an alternative to the 6.5 Grendel, with slight modifications in chamber dimensions, including a smaller neck diameter and a different throat angle. This cartridge was developed to avoid licensing fees associated with the Grendel name and is often seen as a more flexible option for handloaders.

Key Differences

• The 6.5 Grendel features a compound throat design with a .300 neck, which helps align the bullet as it enters the barrel,  enhancing accuracy. 
• The .264 LBC typically has a conventional throat with a .295 neck, which may provide different performance characteristics, particularly with specific bullet types.
